Impacting the Lives of Children
May 2012: “Whoever welcomes a little child like this in my name welcomes me.” Matthew 18:5
Dear Friend,
What is one child’s life worth? …. That is a question that we have pondered numerous times over the last 6 years, but never more so than when confronted with Osward - a 15 year old boy in a 6 year old body, disabled and neglected, severely malnourished, living mostly naked on the ground, and without hope.
By putting this child in our path in Zambia, Africa, God has taught us in a very personal way that anything these last 2 years have cost in time or money has been worth giving if the only child who benefits is Osward. Each life is precious to our Heavenly Father who knows the number of hairs on each of our heads; but, as frail human beings we, perhaps, needed this experience with an almost invisible, neglected child to begin to slightly understand what God must feel when any one of His children is hurt.
Thankfully, we believe God’s plan for the Agape Village Orphanage in Zambia will make it possible to positively impact many more young lives than just Osward’s. Early this summer the first 20 orphans will be moving into the Agape Village Orphanage - a place where they will be cared for in a safe and loving, Christian environment. Gradually, more children will be added until capacity is reached--96 children. We believe that will happen rather quickly.
Will you join with us in impacting the lives of these precious orphans in a very personal way? You may do so by becoming a sponsor -- by donating $400 annually to help provide food, clothing and education for a particular child. As a sponsor it will be possible for you to have contact with “your child” at certain times during the year in order for you to develop a relationship that will tangibly show God’s love to one of these little ones.
For those who do not feel called to become sponsors at this time but still wish to help, we covet your prayers for the children and for the orphanage staff. Also, please know that a donation of any amount will help as we purchase sheets, towels, pillows, blankets, pots and pans, etc.-- all of the things needed at the orphanage......Thanks for making a difference!
